Why is wanting to stay home seen as being lazy?

If you are a mom that works fine.  If you are a mother that stays home, fine.  But the other day I saw something that really bothered me.  My friend who is a SAHM, was confronted by a working mom that said she is just plain lazy and does not want to work.  The SAHM said, “Thats really not true, there is alot of work to do with three children at home, I don’t consider myself lazy.”  I have to agree with the SAHM, just because she has made the decision to live on half of the money she used to, in order to stay home with her children certainly does not make her lazy.  Doing laundry, cooking, cleaning and budgeting does not make her lazy.  There seems to be a backlash out there from the “femisist movement”, towards mothers that are choosing to stay home with their children.  Isn’t this the opposite of what the feminist movement is supposed to do?  I though they were here to support women in the CHOICES they make, not insult them.

Why I choose Obama!

With all the hype and rumors out there going on with this election, I wanted to post why I choose Obama.  I choose him not because I dislike McCain, but because I like Obama, and really, I like Mccain too!  Its actually nice to be able to a watch a presidential candidate who can actually give a speech, (unlike Bush).  Maybe you dislike Obama, but even if you do, you cannot deny he can give a DAMN GOOD SPEECH!  And no, speeches can’t run the country, I’m aware of that.  He represents change and change is what this country needs.  Health Insurance for all Americans is what this country needs.  I’m convinced that although Obama is not experienced, he will surround himself with intelligent, experienced people.  This is evident in his campaign.  In my opinion, Obama’s staff makes McCains staff look like a bunch of naive, no-class, babies.  I mean really, placing an add with Obama, Paris Hilton, and Brittney Spears in the same category, even the Republicans don’t like the ad!  Maybe you don’t like Obama but how in the world can you put Obama, a man that came from a poor family, and graduated from Harvard, in the same category as Paris Hilton!  But thats okay republican campaign committees, keep making these stupid mistakes, and people like myself, who vote for the person not the party, ( I have voted Republican and Democratic in the past) will choose Obama!

Why is the Greek Orthodox Easter on a different day than the American Easter?

This is a question asked by many.  I have found a very good explanation concerning the difference in dates at the following website http://www.factmonster.com/spot/easter1.html

I think one of the main differences between the Eastern Orthodox Easter, and the Western date concerning Easter is this, Eastern Orthodox, or Greek Orthodox Christians will never celebrate Easter before the Jewish Passover.  Because the Orthodox, (and most Christians) believe that Jesus celebrated Easter BEFORE the Pascha (Easter.)    An Orthodox Christian knows that Easter will always fall AFTER the Jewish Passover, not before.

Another note, there are many people of Middle Eastern Decent, Russian, and Greek who are Orthodox Christians.  Sometimes our media mistakenly gives the impression that all of the people throughout the Middle East are Muslim.  This is not true.  There are a large majority of Lebaneese, Syrian, Jordanian, Iranian, Russian, etc. the list goes on, of Eastern Orthodox Christians.  I think this is important to know, it seems as though these groups of Christians are sometimes overlooked….

Who handles the bills in your house?

I found it very interesting to hear who handles most of the finances in different households.  Is there someone in your home who is designated as  “the bill writer”, or “the finance keeper.”  And if so, WHY?  Why is this person in charge?  Are they better with money?  Are they more detailed oriented, or is it just because of time constraints?

Federal Reserve rate cut coming? or NOT?

As most of you know, tomorrow is the day the Federal Reserve comes out with their announcement concerning interest rate,,,,,chances are, another rate cut is in order.  My question is,  if the Feds decide to keep cutting rates, what about inflation?  How will this effects inflation and the value of the American Dollar?  And most importantly to most, When will I see the rates drop at my local bank?  Really, people want to know, if rates are cut should I refinance?  Is the rate cut enough for people to want to run and refinance?  It seems that people with these sub-prime loans would want to opt for the traditional fixed rate loans, but the problem here is, Will they qualify?  Banks are really tightenning up their belts when it comes to handing out loans.  Its not like before when they were handed out like candy, which is probably part of the reason why we are in this mess!

Money-hungry people…..

I found it astounding how many people I run accross today, that seem to have their eye contantly on “The Golden Ticket.”  I mean really, does the love for money possess their lives or what.  Hey, don’t get me wrong, I like to buy a few nice things, have a little fun, and have a little of the green stuff in my pocket, but beyond that?  Comon, lets face it, there are some people who are just “money hungry.”  They worship it, they live to make more of it, and want nothing to get in their way of obtaining more and more of it!  There are so many kind, gentle and gracious wealthy people, it seems these people surely know money isn’t everything, yes that have alot of it and you know what, good for them!  They should enjoy, I like these people, I’m glad they are comfortable, really.  These ARE NOT the type of people I am talking about here, you know the ones I mean, they will cheat a poor man out of their last dollar, lie, do whatever they need to do……

Its amazing to me.  Really.  I know, if you have your health, and family, you have everything.  I know plenty of wealthy people who are some of the kindest people I have ever met.  But these others, I don’t know what keeps them ticking…….

Dave Ramsey

You might have heard of him, he has his own radio show, and his own news type spot on fox business network.  I have listened to him on the radio for about two years now, and I have to tell you I LIKE HIM!  He’s a bit of a “Bible Thump-er”, but you know what, I like it.  I think he has a great way of putting things in perspective and giving some good common sense advise.  I have read his books and really feel like I walked away with some good, helpful information.  I don’t always agree with him a 100% but I’ll tell you probably 98% of time I find myself saying “You are so right Dave.”  He gives a common approach to investing and budgeting.  One of my favorite days to listen to him is on Fridays, if you have no debt, other-than a regular mortgage, you get to call in to his radio show and scream at the top of you’re lungs “I’M DEBT FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE”, I LOVE IT!  To hear the joy in these peoples voices is just wonderful, what a positive message!

Why do parents allow it?

More and more I see children behaving poorly in public.  Now my children can misbehave, no doubt, and yes, I’ve had to pick them up off the floor of Target when they didn’t get the toy they wanted, but here’s the key “I DIDN’T GIVE THEM THE TOY THEY WANTED.”  Was it embarrassing YOU BET.  Did I want to crawl into a whole, YES!  But I was not giving in.  Children will behave badly mine included, I understand that.  BUT, why, why do the parents allow this.  My beef isn’t with the child, its the parents!  I mean com-on, why do people think it is OK to say “yes” all the time, instead of going through the tough times of saying “No”.  No-body’s kids are perfect, mine included, and sometimes I want to pull my hair out, but we have to learn to say “NO” and STICK TO IT.  Parents need to stop giving in all the time.  I”ve seen some of the nicest, most well behave children who are only children, or who have four brothers and sisters…..so no more excuses like, “he’s the youngest”, “she’s the oldest”, or “she’s an only child.”  Our children DESERVE to have discipline in their life and to have boundaries, it is good for them, when it is done out of great love and affection, it is done because you love this little guy or girl so much you want them to have a GOOD life, not one of misery because as adults they can’t have everything they want when they want it.

Ferraro, please we dont’ want your comments!

Really I mean, what kind of stupid comment was this by Ferraro.  I mean, comon, Obama is a democrat and if you want to vote democratic you might just be voting for him!  We don’t need to hear these kinds of stupid comments okay Ferraro.  In the meantime while, Ferraro is stirring the pot by making these dumb comments, the rest of the United States is trying to figure out how to buy groceries, gas, and healthcare.  We don’t need anything distracting us from the real issues.  Everyday people are busting their buts trying to make it in this economy and stupid things like this just take away from the real issues.  So to Ms. Ferraro “Shutty please….”  If you don’t mind, some of us would like to focus on the real issues, the issues that we are facing in our everyday life!

What is this Secret Life of a Soccer Mom Show?

I have never seen this show, but I have read ALOT about it on the Internet.  What is the big controversy behind this show?  And whats with the song in the show?  It says something about “Ditch the minivan?”  I drive a four year old minivan, and I like it!  It seems like all these shows do is start fights between stay at home moms and working moms.  Maybe that’s why they make shows like this to “stir the pot”  I have never seen this show so I can’t comment too much, but from what I have read, they have a SAHM, try working their dream job, and then they can decide  if they want to do it.  I have friends that use daycare centers, babysitters, only close family friends, only family or they stay home with their kids.  No matter what they do, they are my friends.  My children have never gone to a daycare center, but my friends do…..so what?  Am I supposed to expound upon this issue?  Well no way.  Parents do what they feel is right for them, and if its working……fine with me.  I don’t want anyone to tell my “you should send your child to daycare, it would be good for them.”  So I AM NOT GONNA TELL OTHER PEOPLE WHAT TO DO.  Maybe the daycare thing works for them, and if it does, that’s fine with me.  I respect their decisions.  That is what they felt was right for them.

As for working, for me personally, I like part time work.  That’s my preference.  I’m not career driven.  I haven’t continued my education, (I have been out of college for over 10 years) and have no desire to.  I enjoy helping people, and that’s about it.  I like cooking and I don’t mind cleaning.  Some people love their career and want to climb the ladder, great, that’s just not for me.  It takes all kinds of people to make things run, and thank goodness some like to climb the career letter, I’m just one of those “entry level” people, and I’m fine with it.  In fact, I enjoy it.

Do shows like this make you angry?
